Azeem Sets New National 200m Indoor Record At Tiger Paw Invitational

Sprinter Muhammad Azeem Mohd Fahmi has set a new national 200-metre (m) indoor record at the Tiger Paw Invitational in North Carolina, the United States, yesterday.

The 21-year-old clocked 21.20 seconds en route to finishing 21st out of 48 sprinters at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex in Clemson, North Carolina, thus rewriting his own mark of 21.50s set in January.

The Teluk Intan-born Muhammad Azeem had set the 21.50s mark in the 200m at the Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson to erase the previous national indoor record of 22.86s set by Timothy Tan at the 2019 Manchester Indoor Meet.

Earlier, on Friday (Feb 13), Muhammad Azeem clocked 6.65s in the 60m semi-finals to finish ninth overall, thus missing out on advancing to the final. – BERNAMA
